Principles of Community Engagement to
Address Population Health Webinar – November 14
Community engagement is integral to public health practice now more than ever. Community engagement is the process of working collaboratively with groups of people who are affiliated by geographic proximity, special interests, or similar situations with respect to issues affecting their well-being. Community engagement is fundamental to public health practice and is integral to advancing health equity, including engagement of populations disproportionately impacted by health disparities. Meaningful engagement with the community impacted is a strategy to recognize needed changes and appropriate action. This webinar will highlight the principles of community engagement, as well as examples of community engagement efforts taking place in rural and urban areas of South Dakota.
