CIE (Community Information Exchange Update)

The Community Information Exchange (CIE) is a statewide collaboration of health care, human and social service providers sharing information using an integrated technology platform and referral system to coordinate whole-person care.  The vision is to streamline connection between the entities to address social needs and advance health improvement among populations at higher risk and that are underserved.  Join us as we learn about the progress and update from CIE team.

Community Health Workers (CHWs): A Panel of Experts

A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This relationship allows the CHW to serve as a liaison between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.  A CHW also builds individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy.  Hear from a panel of experts from different levels within the CHW program.

SD Immunization Registry Update

The South Dakota Department of Health, in partnership with STChealth, has announced the launch of its new Immunization Information System - SDIIS.  The new system will improve immunization reporting and coverage throughout the state, making the lives of public health officials, immunization providers, and local communities easier.

The SDIIS is a web-based system that allows healthcare providers to securely report and track immunization records for their patients, reducing the potential for missed immunizations and helping ensure that South Dakota residents receive timely and appropriate vaccinations.

Electronic Case Report (eCR) Update

Electronic health record vendors are building the capability to create and send electronic case report (eCR) messages to public health.  The messages help healthcare facilities meet state reporting requirements while decreasing the staffing burden to complete the reporting.  This presentation will provide an overview of the onboarding, routing, receipt, and processing of eCR messages.  Focus will be on the South Dakota Department of Health process for eCR.

HIMSS Dakotas Chapter Update

The HIMSS Chapters of South Dakota and North Dakota have been approved to merge to create a new chapter.  The Chapter includes current members in those states.  The primary goal of the merger is to create a larger chapter capable of combining the strengths of their individual organizations.  Hear from a board member of what changes this merger will bring.
